Dunedin and Southland Hospitals

ACHD Clinics are held at both Dunedin and Southland Hospitals. All the cardiologists see ACHD patients, but the main ACHD cardiologist is Dr James Pemberton (that’s James in the picture below). Rachel Lova is the clinical nurse specialist on the team. James and Rachel run ACHD clinics most weeks in Dunedin and every few months in Invercargill

There are visiting joint specialist clinics every year with Dr Clare O’Donnell from the Auckland team.

Most investigations such as echocardiograms, exercise tests, CT scans and some MRI scans and angiograms can be performed at either Dunedin or Southland Hospital. Some specialised cardiac catheters and cardiac MRI scans will be done in Auckland.
