The ACHD service at Nelson Marlborough is run by cardiologists, Dr Kerryanne Johnson and Dr Tammy Pegg, assisted by cardiac specialist nurse Nicola Kennedy.
Kerryanne and Tammy see ACHD patients in the cardiology clinics in both Nelson and Wairau Hospitals. They also see adolescents due to transition to the adult clinic in the paediatric clinic alongside Dr Fiona McGill and Auckland paediatric cardiologist Dr Jude Mcmormack. Each year Kerryanne, Tammy and Nicola see selected patients alongside Dr Clare O’Donnell, visiting ACHD cardiologist from Auckland.
Nicola is a first point of contact for ACHD patients and is also a source of expert information and advice on subjects such as pregnancy and contraception.
The cardiology department at Nelson Hospital has excellent echo sonographers who are experienced in scanning ACHD patients. Other tests like holter monitors, exercise tests and often CT and MRI scans can also be done in Nelson Marlbourgh. Patients needing congenital heart catheters will travel to Auckland for these tests.
Clinics are held in the Cardiology Outpatient Clinics at Nelson or Blenheim Hospital.
Patients can call the clinic regarding appointments on 03 456 1800.
Doctors can refer to Dr Kerryanne Johnson or Dr Tammy Pegg by writing to the cardiology service.
